NSW Govt Regulatory Investigation 2019

In 2018-9 there was an extremely concerning rise of tragedies and incidents related to high rise multi-apartment towers that seemed to have been escalating over the recent period ( see chronology). After the horror of the Grenfell disaster (2017) and with the December 2018 Opal Tower incident (extreme cracking) and then soon after in February 2019 The Spencer Street Tower (facade fire) it led to a sudden legislative push by the NSW Government to act to change legislation. Below is a chronology of actions that were taken by the government.

Dr Jonathan Drane was asked to submit a presentation to the NSW government committee in charge of creating the new legislation. Dr Drane gains recognition for his Defects Dilemma initiative. However the process is rushed and Dr Drane created a petition to have it reviewed in a more timely manner.
